DESCRIPTION:In 1972\, Ken Thompson added a script to Version 2 AT&T UNIX: "
locate and run off a particular section of this manual". This tool\, "man"
\, closed the loop for computer system documentation\, allowing it to be d
istributed\, developed\, and accessed within the same system---and all wit
h one set of simple tools.\n\nHow does this tooling look\, 54 years later?
\n\nIn this talk\, I'll survey both the manpage and other popular document
ation ecosystems. I'll then look at what modern tools are available for ma
npages\, and how we can lower the barrier of entry for new documentation i
 nto the system.
