The Realities of Enterprise FreeBSD
2026-09-12 , D.0.07

FreeBSD powers critical infrastructure around the globe, but deploying it successfully in the enterprise requires far more than a technically excellent operating system.

This session examines the operational realities of running FreeBSD in environments with strict security, compliance, stability, and support expectations. Drawing on real-world experience, we will discuss how organizations evaluate risk, manage software lifecycles, plan upgrades years in advance, and maintain confidence in the systems that underpin their critical infrastructure and services.

Topics include vulnerability management, release engineering, deployment at scale, package management, and regulatory compliance. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of both the strengths and the challenges of operating FreeBSD at enterprise scale.
